Computing / E-Safety

Information and Communication Technology is used in all areas of the curriculum to support children’s learning. Appropriate software is used to develop pupils technological communication skills; handling of information and use of web based resources. All children are provided with filtered and supervised internet access.

At Linchfield Academy we aim for the computing curriculum to expose children to a variety of types of technology and opportunities to use different computing programs, software, and equipment throughout their learning journey. Our computing curriculum develops the children procedural knowledge and understanding of using technology communicational skills, handling of information and use of web-based resources. Computing covers E-safety at Foundation through to Year 6 within computing lessons, and cross-curricular subjects such as PSHE so that children are made aware of safety issues and understand how to use technology in a safe manner. We believe that it is important that the child’s voice is encouraged so that they can say with confidence and understanding how to use technology to support and elevate their work.
